Dubai — March 28, 2022 — The first-ever ETHDubai, a local Ethereum-centered event, will be held in Dubai, which is one of the world’s leading crypto and blockchain meeting destinations, from March 29 to 31, 2022. The upcoming event will become a focal point for the world’s DeFi and crypto developers, leaders and VCs.
The first ETHDubai will include a hackathon, a stage for start-ups pitching to VCs, workshops, talks and panels. It will accommodate over 1,000 developers and project creators in the span of three days.
Fostering DeFi and Web3 adoption in MENA
Recent groundbreaking news, such as Dubai World Trade Center establishing a crypto hub and Binance securing a license to operate in Dubai, are paving the way for more wide-spread adoption of crypto in the MENA region. ETHDubai, in turn, aims to bring attention to the local crypto agenda.
The main goal of the event is to provide top-level industry knowledge and create business opportunities for DeFi projects in the region. The organizers intend to foster a strong developer community, and the commitment of UAE to become a global digital asset ecosystem can support the crypto space in the country for the long term.
Evolution of projects, education of users
“We want to bring more in-depth, developer-focused content to the agenda and contribute to global DeFi and Web3 adoption,” said Patrick Aljord, Yearn Finance contributor and organizer. “We’ve set the stage for trying to progress in solving some of the industry pain-points like mitigating decentralization trade-offs, security, improvements of DeFi UX and more. We’ve also added more educational activities with a set of workshops and a hackathon.”
Community-driven event
ETHDubai is prepared by dedicated Ethereum and Web3 builders with the aim of attracting colleagues from the EU, the United States and Asia to MENA and introducing them to the innovative spirit of the region and its favorable conditions.
“We realize that actual builders are only starting to look into the UAE. The latest breakthrough news in regulation and major projects relocating their headquarters here are likely to be a long-term undertaking,” adds Aleksei Pupyshev, GTON Capital core contributor and close partner. “We’d like to see the DeFi developer community growing here in Dubai and the UAE becoming the center of gravity for crypto.”
ETHDubai is an annual conference with a plan to enrich its agenda and increase the number of attendees with each new event. This will help to expand the local DeFi community and leverage its feedback and expertise.
A top-notch lineup of speakers
The first ETHDubai will bring famous and respected speakers such as Ethereum core developer Austin Griffith, Delta Blockchain Fund security researcher and technical lead Mudit Gupta, SushiSwap core developer Sarang Parikh, MakerDAO co-founder and core developer Juan, and many others.
The event is supported by the most popular CEXs and DEXs, including Bybit, Coinmena, 1inch and SushiSwap, innovating DeFi pioneers like Yearn finance, GTON Capital and Peanut, infrastructure solutions Cartesi, Ankr, Syscoin, Klaytn and KlayCity, the social platform MoleDao, initial NFT platform Fellaz and popular tools such as MetaMask and Gnosis.
