New Zealand Building Permit Data Due On Thursday

New Zealand will on Thursday release March numbers for building permits, setting the pace for a modest day in Asia-Pacific economic activity. Building permits climbed 1.9 percent in February.

South Korea will provide April figures for consumer prices; in March, overall inflation was up 0.4 percent on month and 0.5 percent on year, while core CPI gained 0.5 percent on month and 1.1 percent on year.

Hong Kong will see Q1 numbers for gross domestic product; in the three months prior, GDP fell 0.3 percent on quarter and advanced 1.3 percent on year.

Indonesia will release April data for consumer prices; in March, overall inflation was up 0.1 percent on month and 2.5 percent on year, while core CPI climbed an annual 3.0 percent.

Also, a number of regional countries will see April manufacturing PMI results from Nikkei, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Finally, the stock markets in Japan remain closed through May 7 for a variety of national holidays.
