India’s industrial production grew more than expected in June, data from statistics ministry showed Friday.
Industrial output expanded 2 percent on a yearly basis in June, but slower than the 4.6 percent increase seen in May. Economists had forecast an annual growth of 1.4 percent.
Among components, the manufacturing sector logged an annual expansion of 1.2 percent. Electricity output surged 8.2 percent, and mining rose 1.6 percent.
During the quarter ended June, industrial production advanced 3.6 percent from the same period of last year.
