Australia Construction Index Climbs To 45.6 In March

by RTTNews Staff Writer

The construction sector in Australia continued to contract in March, albeit at a slower rate, the latest survey from the Australian Industry Group revealed on Friday with a Performance of Construction Index score of 45.6.

That’s up from 43.8, although it remains well above the boom-or-bust line of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.

Individually, activity, employment, new orders, supplier deliveries and selling prices all improved but continued to contract.

Input prices and average wages weakened but remained well into expansion territory.
